Neagley: Everything to Know About the Reacher Spin-Off Show

It looks like Reacher might get to play the sidekick

Prime Video's action hit Reacher is a rare show that really doesn't have much of an ongoing cast. There's literally only one single character aside from the Big Guy who has stuck around from season to season: Frances Neagley (Maria Sten), who Reacher (Alan Ritchson) inevitably has to call for help after he realizes he's in a much bigger mess than he thought he was. So it's not really that surprising that Prime Video greenlit a spinoff series, dubbed simply Neagley, in which she is the one who stumbles into some sort of dastardly conspiracy that features some deeply personal angle.

Reacher Season 3 wrapped up another rewarding story of crime-solving and bone-crushing, and while Neagley wasn't involved for most of the season, the baddies managed to draw her in by trying to kill her, and she ended up being crucial to resolving the situation. And now it's time to find out what kind of stuff she gets into when she's on her own. More on that as we go through everything we know so far about The Neagley Show.

Neagley latest news

It looks like Wrigley Field will have a part to play in The Neagley Show, as Maria Sten and Alan Ritchson were spotted filming a scene in the crowd at a real Cubs game on May 19. Since Neagley herself lives in Chicago, and there hasn't been any word about production getting started on Reacher Season 4, this is almost certainly going to be a scene on Neagley after she's forced to call in the big guns.

What might this scene be about? Since we don't have any kind of plot synopsis for Neagley, there's no point in trying to guess. Though there's a good chance that Neagley will jokingly try to get Reacher, a life-long Yankees fan, to wear a Cubs hat, and Reacher will reply with some kind of snide comment about how the Cubs are trash and their hats don't deserve the dignity of sitting on his head, and Neagley will quip that his head is probably too big for the hat anyway.

Neagley potential premiere date

Amazon hasn't announced any sort of planned release window for Neagley, but the series already began filming in February — a launch in late 2025 is more than possible with how fast they've managed to turn around seasons of Reacher even with the writers and actors strikes getting in the way.

Neagley storyline

Unlike each season of Reacher, this spinoff will tell an original story that is not based on a novel by Lee Child, the author of the Jack Reacher books. But, naturally, it will stay in that same mystery/thriller genre. Here's the official synopsis:

"When she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell bent on justice. Using everything she's learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil."

Since Neagley is not a hulking dude with giant muscles, this spinoff probably won't be quite so brutish as Reacher is. Neagley is still just as good at kicking ass as Reacher is, but she's also got lots of tech-related skills that Reacher could never hope to match, so we're guessing the story caters to those skills.

While we had a small hope that Season 3 of Reacher might set up Neagley's plot, that didn't end up being the case — Reacher and co. closed this case and tied it off with a bow just like they do every season, so it's doubtful any threads will carry over beyond Reacher and Neagley's own personal history with each other.

Will Jack Reacher show up on Neagley?

Yes! Alan Ritchson is slated to appear on Neagley in a guest starring role, which probably means he'll be the old pal that shows up in the middle of the plot during a major moment of need, in a reversal of Neagley's role on Reacher. Besides, you didn't think Prime Video would make a Reacher spin-off without the promise of the man, the myth, and the legend showing up, did you?

Neagley cast and crew

Neagley is co-created by Reacher showrunner/creator Nick Santora alongside veteran TV writer Nicholas Wootton, who was previously on Santora's writing staff for the CBS show Scorpion. Along with Ritchson and Sten, Neagley will feature Damon Herriman, Matthew Del Negro, Adeline Rudolph, Greyston Holt and Jasper Jones
